Bitcoin Whale Transfers 1,260.77 BTC Worth Over $100 Million
A Bitcoin wallet created in 2016 transferred 1,260.77 BTC at block height 965770, with the funds moving to an unknown P2WPKH address. This wallet was created on July 9, 2016, when its holdings were valued at approximately $819,500, and its current value has exceeded $100 million. On September 6, nearly 75 Casascius physical Bitcoins were redeemed. On September 3, 14 coins from the first series of Casascius Bitcoins were redeemed, followed by about 15 coins the next day, and a single-day record of 40 coins was reached on September 5. Casascius physical Bitcoins were produced by Mike Caldwell from 2011 to 2013, made from materials including brass, silver, and gold plating, with embedded digital BTC. The process of peeling or redeeming refers to removing the coin's holographic sticker and using the private key within to transfer the digital BTC.
