31.2% of Bitcoin Supply Held Under Visible Public Keys
According to Glassnode data, more than 6 million Bitcoin in circulation is held behind visible public keys, which accounts for 31.2% of the total supply. Rafael Schultze Kraft noted that since May, the amount of Bitcoin behind visible public keys has increased by 222,000 BTC, while the total supply has remained limited to 64,000 BTC. Exchanges contributed to this increase, accounting for 123,000 BTC, raising the amount of Bitcoin they hold behind visible public keys to 1.79 million BTC. The visible shares were measured at 10% for Coinbase, 83% for Binance, 2% for Fidelity, 49% for Grayscale, 99% for Revolut, and 100% for Robinhood. These data measure the usage of addresses and do not directly indicate security vulnerabilities. Additionally, Ethereum researcher Justin Drake emphasized that the sector needs to prepare for the risk of artificial intelligence breaking wallet cryptography. Current data does not detect visible risks in Bitcoin assets held by governments.
