34 Casinos in Cambodia Receive $1.07 Billion in Crypto Assets, 64% Flow into OFAC Sanctioned Networks
From January 1 to September 7, 2026, 34 physical casinos in Sihanoukville, Cambodia, received approximately $1.07 billion in cryptocurrency. Of this, 64% of the funds were linked to casinos associated with the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanctions, with 99.9% of the funds transferred in the form of USDT on the TRON blockchain. The monthly inflow averaged $148 million from January to May, dropping to around $95 million in July and August, but not stopping completely. These casinos exchanged USDT for cash, with minimal necessary due diligence conducted on customers. Additionally, pawn shops, supermarkets, and exchange counters throughout the city also offered "cryptocurrency to cash" services.
