US offers 40 million barrels of oil, potential impact on Bitcoin
The US Department of Energy has opened an exchange for up to 40 million barrels of crude from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. Proposals are due October 6 at 11 a.m. Central, with deliveries scheduled for November and December. This offer is part of a previously announced 172-million-barrel release commitment. The announcement could influence oil-price expectations, which may indirectly affect Bitcoin through inflation expectations and Federal Reserve rate outlooks. The Bureau of Economic Analysis will release the August personal income and outlays report on September 30, which includes the PCE price index. This data will not reflect the September 29 oil offer. The Federal Reserve raised its policy-rate range to 3.75%-4% on September 16, citing elevated inflation. The Energy Information Administration's September outlook projected Brent crude near 90 dollars a barrel in the second half of 2026. As of September 30, Bitcoin was around 83000 dollars. The next key date is the October 6 bid deadline, which will determine the awarded supply for the November-December window.
