According to Twitter user Sam Price, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has opened a clearer path for cryptocurrency custody. The newly proposed rules allow registered advisors and funds to hold cryptocurrencies more easily. Limited self-custody is permitted when there are no qualified custodians. State-chartered trust companies can act as custodians. Chairperson Atkins described it as a compliance path that did not exist before, providing support for institutional infrastructure for cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin.
