Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission Report Shows 13.5% Quarter-on-Quarter Decline in Virtual Asset Trading Commission Income

The Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission has released a financial review report for the securities industry, indicating that the net profit of Hong Kong's securities industry increased by 21% to HKD 51.7 billion in the first half of 2026. The total net commission income and interest income from securities trading, futures and options trading, leveraged foreign exchange trading, and virtual asset trading rose by 13% from HKD 40.1 billion in the second half of 2025 to HKD 45.4 billion in the first half of 2026. The commission income from virtual asset trading in the first half of 2026 was HKD 99.3 million, a decrease of HKD 15.5 million compared to HKD 114.8 million in the second half of 2025, representing a quarter-on-quarter decline of 13.5%.
