UK Imposes Sanctions on Three Russian Cryptocurrency Exchanges
The United Kingdom has expanded its sanctions on Russia by adding 38 new entities to the list, including three Russian cryptocurrency exchanges. The aim of the sanctions is to hinder Russia's ability to evade Western restrictions through cryptocurrencies and to weaken its economy in the context of financing aggression against Ukraine. Among the newly sanctioned entities are companies supplying key goods for Russian military operations and vessels linked to the Russian fleet. The A7 exchange, one of those sanctioned, is suspected of aiding in circumventing restrictions. The stablecoin A7A5, associated with the A7 network, has frequently been used to bypass sanctions, achieving a turnover close to $140 billion, mainly in transactions with Asian countries. The new sanctions are particularly aimed at the Russian oil sector, covering over 90 percent of its production capacity.
