SWI Group Raises 800 Million Euros for Transition to AI Data Centers
SWI Group has raised 800 million euros from professional investors to transform its infrastructure for bitcoin mining into data centers for artificial intelligence (AI). The investment highlights the growing value of locations with abundant electricity as AI companies require more computing power. The funds are intended for the expansion of data centers and AI computing power in Europe and the United States. SWI holds a majority stake of over 70 percent in Genesis Digital Assets, which owns large sites with power connections. SWI, listed on Euronext Amsterdam since 2026, plans to rename Genesis Digital Assets to SWI Digital. More than 80 percent of SWI's capital has now been invested in digital infrastructure. The valuation of SWI after this funding round amounts to 6.1 billion euros. CEO Max-Hervé George states that the investment is necessary to keep pace with the rapidly growing market for data centers. The share of freely tradable shares in the fund rises to about 20 percent. SWI has not specified what portion of the 800 million euros will go towards the transformation of the bitcoin sites.

Stocks and Crypto Rebound After Hot PPI | WEEX TradFi Daily Brief (October 16, 2026)
On October 15, September PPI rose 6.3% year on year, the highest in more than four years, briefly lifting hike expectations and triggering a short drop in equities and crypto. After the market digested the print, risk assets rebounded from the sell-off and the three major indexes closed higher. Bitcoin briefly broke below $80,000 and recovered to the $82,000–$83,000 range. CoreWeave fell sharply on bond pressure and then closed higher, while crypto-finance stocks and some L2 tokens strengthened. October 16 focus turns to industrial production and import-export prices.
