September Crypto Hacks Resulted in $767 Million in Losses
The damage from crypto hacks in September reached a peak for the year, amounting to approximately $767 million. According to PeckShield, there were 55 major incidents in the month, with stolen funds totaling $766.5 million. CertiK recorded 97 attacks with a total damage of $768.4 million. The main losses came from two attacks: on the cryptocurrency exchange Bitget, where attackers withdrew about $388 million, and on the Liquid Network protocol, which lost around $320 million. Liquid managed to recover $270 million, but the overall losses in September became a record. Other affected projects include Safe Wallet, DCENT, and Duelbits, with losses of $7.8 million, $6 million, and $5.9 million, respectively. Analysts noted that September demonstrated a rapid change in the scale of threats to cryptocurrency services.
