Remittance Verification Between Japan and South Korea
On the 1st, SBI Digital Trust Co., Ltd. signed a basic agreement for joint verification aimed at commercializing remittance and payment using stablecoins between Japan and South Korea with NICE Information Communication, a South Korean payment service provider, and DSRV, a South Korean blockchain infrastructure company. The three companies are advancing joint verification, assuming a use case where travelers from Japan make QR code payments at NICE Information Communication's member stores.
This verification is specifying how funds will move, the instructions for remittance and payment, and how to connect each company's systems. The completion is expected by the end of December 2026.
In South Korea, the regulatory framework for stablecoins is still under development, and policy discussions are ongoing. The three companies plan to combine NICE Information Communication's payment expertise, DSRV's technical knowledge, and SBI Digital Trust's regulatory insights to verify the feasibility of the remittance and payment scheme.
Roles of Each Company
The verification is progressing with each of the three companies contributing their expertise. SBI Digital Trust is responsible for specifying the remittance and payment scheme by leveraging Japan's regulatory and financial knowledge, NICE Information Communication is in charge of the merchant network and payment operations, and DSRV is handling the examination of blockchain technology.
The three companies plan to use the points raised during the verification as materials for future commercialization decisions, with SBI Digital Trust advancing the development of stablecoin-related use cases considering the regulatory trends in various countries.
