Rocket Lab Neutron's Maiden Flight May Be Delayed Until 2027
Rocket Lab has indicated that there is a risk of delay for the Neutron rocket project, with the first launch potentially pushed back to 2027. The company plans to deliver the Neutron to the launch pad in the fourth quarter, but it has not confirmed whether the rocket will complete its maiden flight this year. The previous target was to achieve the first launch by the end of 2026. Rocket Lab pointed out that the development timeline for Neutron still carries risks and uncertainties, and the specific launch date will depend on the results of booster testing and other factors. Neutron is a larger rocket developed based on the Electron, aimed at competing with SpaceX's Falcon 9. The financial report showed that Rocket Lab's revenue for the quarter reached a record $234 million, exceeding market expectations of $232 million; the adjusted loss per share was $0.08, slightly worse than analysts' expected loss of $0.07. The company expects third-quarter revenue to be between $250 million and $265 million, higher than the market consensus estimate of $237 million. Following the announcement, Rocket Lab's stock fell about 2% in after-hours trading. Additionally, Rocket Lab announced that Kepler Communications has booked a dedicated Neutron launch mission, scheduled for no earlier than 2028.
