Meta and Sierra Launch Personal Intelligent Agent Protocol with Participation from Stripe and Walmart
Sierra and Meta have jointly launched an open standard called the "Personal Intelligent Agent Protocol" to regulate interactions between personal AI agents and businesses. Founding partners include Genesys, Instinct, Rocket, Shopify, Stripe, and Walmart. The protocol handles authentication based on the OAuth standard, allowing users to grant agents read or write access to their accounts. Businesses can independently decide which functionalities to open and can view agent activities through their websites, APIs, or proprietary agents. The v0.1 specification is scheduled to be released later in October.
