Paraguay Seizes 35 Illegal Cryptocurrency Mining Machines
Authorities in Paraguay have shut down two illegal cryptocurrency mining facilities in the Upper Paraná department, seizing a total of 35 mining machines. One mining site, raided on September 17, was illegally drawing electricity through unmetered lines, resulting in the confiscation of 10 ASIC mining machines and fines totaling approximately $30,000. Another operation on September 12 led to the seizure of 25 mining machines. The Paraguayan Chamber of Deputies has passed a resolution requesting the National Electricity Administration to submit a report on the electricity consumption, pricing, and regulatory situation of the cryptocurrency mining industry.
