Iran to Discuss New Passage in Strait of Hormuz
Iranian Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian stated in an interview on September 13 that a meeting scheduled for the 14th in Oman will focus on a new maritime passage within the Strait of Hormuz. Iran will present the details of the agreement reached with Oman and the roadmap for the new passage to the participating countries. Amir-Abdollahian emphasized that the agreement with Oman does not mean that the Strait of Hormuz will be reopened; the reopening of the strait is contingent upon the United States fulfilling its commitments made in the "Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding."
