Former Mt.Gox CEO Accuses Ledger of Contradicting Security Statements and Technical Documentation
Former Mt.Gox CEO Mark Karpelès has questioned Ledger Support's claim that "the secure element chip can detect physical tampering and additional hardware interception signals." He pointed out that Ledger's official documentation clearly states that genuine product verification cannot detect unauthorized physical modifications (such as implants) when the secure element chip is intact. Furthermore, Ledger had previously published photos of such implants in an Academy article in March 2026. Karpelès stated that this is not a hypothetical attack that Ledger did not anticipate, as they have already documented this threat. He believes that Ledger's statement directly contradicts the technical documentation and is misleading to consumers.
