Daishin warns Naver's merger with Dunamu faces uncertainty due to regulatory delays
Daishin Securities indicated that uncertainty surrounding Naver's merger with Dunamu and its stablecoin business may increase as regulatory efforts for digital assets in the U.S. and South Korea are postponed. Delays in the U.S. CLARITY Act could impact South Korea's legal framework for digital assets. Analyst Jung Hae-chang stated that setbacks in U.S. legislation would diminish the external momentum needed for quicker lawmaking in South Korea. Unresolved issues regarding issuer rules and exchange ownership stakes, along with concerns about global regulatory arbitrage, reduce the urgency for swift action. Jung also mentioned that Naver Financial's merger with Dunamu might experience additional delays, although the passage of a basic law on digital assets is not explicitly required for the merger.
