Anthropic merges Claude Chat and Cowork, adds document editing features
Anthropic has merged Claude Chat and Cowork into a single entry point, allowing users to submit requests directly without choosing a mode. Claude will automatically determine whether to answer questions or handle complex tasks. Projects, skills, connectors, and context from Cowork will be retained. Cowork was launched in January this year, originally designed to handle multi-step tasks, but users had to first determine the type of task, which was inconvenient. Now, Anthropic has removed this choice. Claude has also added document and slide features, enabling users to generate and edit documents and PPTs within the conversation, and Claude Design has been integrated as well. After assigning tasks to Claude, users can check progress on their phones even if they close their computers. With this change, Anthropic is pushing Claude to transition from a chat tool to a work agent, where users only need to tell Claude their needs without worrying about the specific modes behind it.
