8 Malware-Infected Games Compromise 8,000 Devices, $220,000 Transferred from 80 Crypto Wallets
U.S. federal investigators have charged that eight downloadable games embedded with malware have infected approximately 8,000 devices, allowing attackers to access around 80 cryptocurrency wallets and transfer at least $220,000 in digital assets. The FBI is continuing its investigation and seeking potential victims. The criminal complaint indicates that the operation lasted from May 2024 to February 2026. Zyaire Dontaevious Zamarion Wilkins, a 21-year-old resident of North Lauderdale, Florida, is accused of funding the malware operation and assisting in promoting related activities. Court documents reveal that the malware collects passwords, wallet credentials, browser data, and other sensitive information after users install the games. Investigators state that Discord, Telegram, X, and LinkedIn were used to promote these games, and automated bots were deployed to search online communities for users holding significant amounts of cryptocurrency. The FBI is gathering information on individuals who downloaded BlockBlasters, Chemia, Dashverse/DashFPS, Lampy, Lunara, PirateFi, Tokenova, or other related games. Wilkins currently faces a charge of conspiracy to obtain computer information for private financial gain, which could result in a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
