XRP Surpasses Bitcoin and Ethereum in Trading Volume in South Korea
XRP has taken the top spot in trading volume in the South Korean crypto market, surpassing Bitcoin and Ethereum, according to CoinMarketCap data. The token's price remained between $1.45 and $1.52 amid local market activity. This surge coincided with the conclusion of the XRP Seoul 2026 conference, where distributed ledger technology strategies for the region were shared. However, some analysts caution that trading data from South Korea should be interpreted carefully. As a result of discussions during Seoul Crypto Week, Kakao Bank, which has 27 million customers, approved plans to launch its own blockchain infrastructure by 2027. The bank is considering XRP Ledger integration for custody services and tokenization of real-world assets. Woori Bank and K Bank have also shown similar interest. The event announced the establishment of XRP Asia, with Sabrina Tachdjian appointed as its head. Additionally, AI-focused payments gained attention; t54.ai reported that over 12 million autonomous robot transactions have been conducted on XRPL. However, monitoring data indicates that XRP's local leadership stems more from regulatory factors unique to South Korea than from global supply constraints. The ban on margin trading is directing individual investors towards the spot market. Since banks' integrations are focused on domestic fiat reconciliation software, they do not necessitate XRP purchases.
