Vitalik Proposes Multi-Signature Security Rule: Change Signer Keys After Each Operation

By: x.com|10/08/2026 03:18:23

Vitalik posted on the X platform that the ideal multi-signature security rule is for each signer to change their key after every operation. This rule assumes that ECDSA may become insecure but will not be immediately compromised, hence the need to guard against memory pool front-running. Vitalik emphasized collecting signatures offline whenever possible to shorten the time gap between "signature exposure" and "key expiration." He also pointed out that misconfigurations and hasty upgrades could lead to loss of funds, so rushed actions should be avoided.
