U.S. Federal Register Website Launches AI Search Function for China's Qwen Model
The Federal Register website, operated by the U.S. National Archives, has launched an AI search function supported by Alibaba's Qwen large model, aimed at retrieving proposed federal regulations and public comments. The FBI has accused Alibaba of copying technology from the American company Anthropic during the development of Qwen, claiming that Chinese AI companies are systematically replicating U.S. technology. This Qwen search function was taken offline after related content appeared on social media. Experts believe that this move is unlikely to pose an immediate national security risk, but it contradicts the U.S. stance of vigilance towards Chinese AI models, with some members of Congress openly opposing the federal government's use of Chinese AI models.
