TSMC Reports 53% Revenue Increase Driven by AI Demand
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) has increased its monthly revenue by 53.3%. The company is experiencing a massive influx of orders from artificial intelligence creators, but demand exceeds production capacity. In August, TSMC earned 514.8 billion local dollars (approximately $16.3 billion USD). Analysts expect sales to grow by 47% for the quarter. TSMC supplies processors to companies like Nvidia and Apple and is actively expanding production by building around 20 factories simultaneously. The need for chip-making equipment has nearly doubled since the end of last year, but factories are overloaded. TSMC has agreed with ASML to purchase lithography machines costing about $400 million each, which will begin mass production in 2030. In 2026, the company plans to spend a record $60-64 billion on development and expects annual revenue growth of over 40%. Since the beginning of the year, TSMC's shares have risen by 60%. It was previously reported that TSMC is investing $265 billion in chip production in the U.S. in exchange for reduced tariffs and will allocate an additional $100 billion to expand capacity under an agreement between Washington and Taipei.
