As of July 1, 2026, the share of non-performing loans (NPL) in the banking sector of Ukraine stood at 12.5%, the lowest level since October 1, 2009. Since the beginning of 2026, the share of problem debt has decreased by 1.5 percentage points, and compared to March 2022, it has decreased by 14.1 percentage points. The main factors contributing to this positive trend were the growth in the volume of quality new lending and active resolution of non-performing debts. In the first six months of 2026, the gross volume of loans in the banking system increased by UAH 154.3 billion (11.3%) to UAH 1.514 trillion, while the volume of non-performing loans decreased by UAH 739 million (0.4%) to UAH 188.6 billion. The dynamics by segments are as follows: individuals - 10.1% (a decrease of 0.6 percentage points), businesses - 15.0% (a decrease of 2.0 percentage points), state banks - 18.0%, private Ukrainian banks - 7.7%, and banks with foreign capital - 5.5%. Ukraine continues to experience a prolonged period of credit expansion, with the volume of hryvnia loans for businesses growing by about one-third annually.
