Samsung and Solana Bring Crypto to Millions of Phones: 'Major Breakthrough'

By: www.crypto-insiders.nl|10/08/2026 13:55:25

Samsung Wallet will receive a built-in feature for the digital dollar USDC in the last week of October. The service will be available on 82 million compatible Galaxy devices in the United States. Solana is one of the networks providing the technology behind the scenes.

In Brief:

  • Samsung Wallet will add USDC for eligible Galaxy users in the United States at the end of October.

  • They can send USDC to other wallets or transfer money to bank accounts in over 60 countries.

  • Crypto analysts see the built-in access as a significant step towards broader crypto adoption.

No Separate Crypto App Needed

Samsung announced on Wednesday that users do not need to install a separate crypto app or manage secret access keys themselves. The feature will be part of the existing Samsung Wallet.

The first supported coin is USDC, a stablecoin that tracks the US dollar. Users can send the coin to a compatible crypto wallet. They can also withdraw money to eligible bank accounts in over 60 countries. The recipient will then receive local currency and does not need a crypto wallet.

Samsung does not charge fees for transfers to an external wallet. The receiving party may do so. Separate fees apply for transfers to foreign bank accounts, depending on the country and the amount.

Analysts See Quiet Breakthrough for Crypto

Crypto analyst Lark Davis describes the integration as an example of how mass adoption of crypto can occur. He emphasizes that people can send money directly from a familiar app while Solana operates in the background.

The analyst behind That Martini Guy also points to this low barrier. According to him, crypto adoption does not always have to start with people buying coins. The technology can also gradually become part of products that millions of people already use.

Solana is Not the Only Network

Samsung also mentions Sui as a technical network alongside Solana. The custody and processing of USDC are done in collaboration with crypto companies Bastion and Coinbase. Users will need to register, verify their identity, and approve transfers biometrically.

At the initial launch, the feature focuses on money transfers. Paying with stablecoins in online or physical stores is mentioned by Samsung only as a possible next step. No date has been announced for that yet.
