Major Investors Hold Crypto During 50 Percent Crash
Between October 2025 and April 2026, cryptocurrency prices halved, but major investors did not reduce their crypto positions. Bitwise spoke with fifteen large institutions, none of which reduced their crypto holdings, and some even bought more during the decline. All surveyed institutions with crypto own Bitcoin, often as their largest and longest-held investment. Most parties invest 1 to 2 percent of their assets in crypto, increasingly through exchange-traded funds. No participant cited a declining price as a reason to sell; they only reconsider their position in the event of fundamental changes or major crises of confidence. Almost all surveyed institutions use or are considering exchange-traded funds because they facilitate the purchase and administration of crypto. The research is based on fifteen anonymous conversations and does not represent the entire institutional market.
