Lido Proposes Update to MEV Policy to Adapt to ePBS
Lido's node operator mechanism working group has proposed an update to the Lido MEV policy in the governance forum to accommodate Ethereum's upcoming built-in proposer-builder separation (ePBS). The proposal adopts a dual-track mechanism: one is an open, permissionless market where Lido validators can accept bids from any builders that meet Ethereum protocol requirements, provided that payments are guaranteed by the protocol; the second is a vetted market where builders and intermediaries offering additional payments beyond the protocol guarantee must enter the Lido whitelist, subject to review by the Curated Module Committee. The proposal requires all Lido validators to continue accepting p2p bids, with all rewards directed to the Lido EL Rewards Vault. If a node operator builds a block while there are external bids above the minimum bid, or if the selected bid is below 90%-95% of the highest qualified bid detected, they will be flagged for investigation. This policy is mandatory for all node operators. The proposal and transition arrangements will be voted on in November, but will only take effect after the Glamsterdam upgrade is completed on the Ethereum mainnet.
