Google Cloud Shuts Down Blockchain Service and Sets Final Migration Deadline to Quicknode
The Google Cloud division is preparing to deactivate the Blockchain Node Engine and the Blockchain RPC tool, with the definitive shutdown of these systems occurring on December 15 after an initial transition phase that began in mid-2026.
Thus, developers of decentralized applications need to migrate their connections to the partner platform Quicknode before the deadline. Any service with active dependencies on the old access points will cease to function with the elimination of all nodes by the provider.
The search company has officially issued a joint recommendation with the infrastructure provider to avoid disruptions in the sector. This way, customers can maintain their contracts through the official Google Cloud Platform (GCP) marketplace.
Shutdown at Google Cloud Requires Transfer of Blockchain Connections to Quicknode
The deactivation process began on June 15 with the suspension of the creation of new nodes. These active servers continued to operate only with critical security updates until the end of the cycle.
The scheduled deletion at the end of the year affects all validation machines and RPC connection points maintained on the platform. For this reason, smart contract operators must update their network paths to prevent failures in the tools.
A technical analysis from Quicknode indicates that the migration process usually takes less than an hour in most cases. Users only need to open a new connection, validate the traffic of the systems, and shut down the old structure in the original panel.
Partner Platform Expands Support for Dozens of Decentralized Networks
The recommended infrastructure offers compatibility with all blockchains of the Google Cloud service and adds another seventy-five networks to the catalog. Thus, customers can use the contracted consumption credits in the multinational's corporate environment without additional financial bureaucracy.
Moreover, this integration does not require deep changes in the codebase of the programs operating in the market. Developers simply need to replace the electronic address of the communication route to restore the flow of information.
The Blockchain Node Engine was introduced with the aim of simplifying node custody for participants in the cryptocurrency sector. This tool allowed for reading and writing blocks with the security and computational power of the corporation's servers.
Ethereum was the first network integrated into the panel when the product debuted for the business audience. This feature eliminated the manual synchronization of blocks from the start of the network, a task that usually takes several days on conventional machines.
Another advantage of the system involved the elimination of exclusive support teams to monitor operational failures full-time. The company's own structure applied fixes and restarted computers during outages based on contractual availability agreements.
However, the discontinuation of this tool requires swift action from companies with active projects in blockchain technology. Managers must complete technical changes before the final deadline in December to preserve the stability of their crypto assets.
