Clearpool Unveils RLUSD-Based Institutional Lending Plans on XRPL
Clearpool has announced plans to establish an RLUSD-based institutional lending infrastructure on the XRP Ledger (XRPL). The XLS-66 lending protocol is not yet in official operation and related services are expected to be launched soon. According to Clearpool's official site, RLUSD, XLS-65 single-asset vaults, and the XLS-66 lending protocol are set to be introduced as services for XRPL on September 11, 2026. The cumulative loan execution amount is $965 million, with a total value locked (TVL) of $30 million. This plan aims to expand the use of XRPL from payments and remittances to institutional credit products. The XLS-66 lending protocol is designed to process fixed-term, unsecured loans on-chain using funds pooled in single-asset vaults. Credit assessment and risk management for borrowers will be conducted off-chain, and the current structure does not include automated collateral management features. The asset used for loan settlements will be RLUSD, not XRP, while XRP will be used for transaction fees and minimum account balance maintenance on XRPL. Clearpool has also unveiled a governance proposal to convert CPOOL to CLEAR alongside its entry into XRPL. The conversion ratio and detailed conditions have not been confirmed. The XRPL lending structure differs from typical collateral-based decentralized finance (DeFi) lending, as credit assessment and risk management for borrowers are handled by off-chain entities. Future confirmations will include launch schedules, approval status for XLS-65 and XLS-66, and loan sizes.
