a16z: Predictability Becomes a New Standard for Blockchain Evaluation
a16z analysts point out that transaction processing speed is no longer the primary criterion for assessing the feasibility of blockchain; rather, the predictability of transaction processing is more important. Research shows that over the past five years, the throughput of mainstream blockchains has increased from 25 transactions per second to over 3,400, with some blockchains reaching tens of thousands. However, speed alone does not inform traders when their transactions will be processed. In a volatile market, a one-second delay can lead to order cancellation delays, causing others to trade at outdated prices and harming the interests of all participants. a16z introduces the concept of "strong chain quality" to ensure that users can submit orders without relying on a single operator, guaranteeing that transactions are immediately included once they arrive in a timely manner. Predictability depends on how the platform determines the order of transactions; although more complex protocols are required, participants can be assured that transactions will be processed even during network congestion.
