In the first half of 2025, 63% of on-chain fees are expected to come from DeFi and financial applications, while the blockchain sector will account for only 22%. According to 1kx's '2025 On-Chain Revenue Report', the total on-chain fees for the first half of 2025 are projected to be $9.75 billion, with DeFi and financial applications generating $6.121 billion and the blockchain sector contributing $2.122 billion. The proportion of blockchain transaction fees is expected to decrease from 56% in 2021 to 22% in the first half of 2025. Transaction costs are anticipated to drop by about 90% compared to the peak in 2021 by 2025. The average daily transaction volume is expected to increase from 64 million in the second half of 2021 to 169 million in the first half of 2025. Fees from the DeFi and financial sector are projected to be $6.1 billion, representing a 113% increase year-on-year, with major revenue sources being DEX, perpetual futures and derivatives, and lending protocols. DEX fees are estimated at $2.8 billion, perpetual futures and derivatives fees at $900 million, and lending fees at $700 million. In the blockchain sector, Tron, Ethereum, and Solana remain the key players.
