General Introduction

Zcash (ZEC) and Kite (KITE) are two cryptocurrency projects with different orientations. Zcash was launched in 2016 by the Electric Coin Company, inheriting the Bitcoin model with a fixed total supply while adding zk-SNARKs technology to enable anonymous transactions alongside public ones. Kite (KITE) is an EVM-compatible blockchain Layer-1 developed by Zettablock, positioned as an AI payment blockchain. It utilizes a self-developed consensus mechanism called Proof of Artificial Intelligence and partners with Coinbase to promote the x402 smart payment protocol.

Overview of ZEC and KITE Tokenomics

Supply

ZEC: Fixed total supply of 21 million.
KITE: Total supply of 10 billion; approximately 1.8 billion KITE were in circulation at launch (about 18%).

Initial Distribution

ZEC: No ICO. For the first 4 years, 20% of block rewards were allocated as a “Founders’ Reward” for the team and contributors, while 80% went to miners. Since November 2020, the mechanism shifted to a 20% Development Fund (allocated to the Electric Coin Co., Zcash Foundation, and grant programs), with the remaining 80% for miners.
KITE: Fixed allocation from the start with a vesting schedule:

ZEC: Used to pay transaction fees, serve as block rewards for miners, and conduct private (shielded) transactions.
KITE: Serves as the utility token of the Kite network: used for staking/delegation to secure the PoS network, paying transaction fees, incentivizing users/AI services within the ecosystem, and governance (voting on network changes). AI modules require holding/unlocking KITE based on integration requirements.

Issuance / Unlocking Schedule

ZEC: Issued via PoW mining with a halving event approximately every 4 years; block rewards decrease until the 21 million total supply is reached.
KITE: No PoW mining; pre-allocated supply and vesting-based unlocking. The growth rate of the circulating supply depends on the long-term vesting schedule announced for the community, modules, team, and investors.

Consensus Mechanism

ZEC: Proof of Work (initially using Equihash).
KITE: Proof of Stake integrated with AI components, referred to by the project as Proof of Artificial Intelligence; validators are selected based on stake, with AI components playing a role in system operations.

Listing Status on WEEX

ZEC: Already listed and traded on many international exchanges, with WEEX supporting ZEC trading (Spot and previously implemented incentive programs).
KITE: Listed on WEEX since October 30, 2025 with the KITE/USDT pair; WEEX opened deposits and spot trading for KITE immediately upon listing. Additionally, 150 million KITE (1.5% of total supply) participated in the Binance Launchpool program for distribution to users.
