Western Union Launches USDPT Stablecoin Remittance Service
Western Union has partnered with stablecoin payment infrastructure provider Noah to launch the Receiver Redirect service, allowing recipients to receive funds in the form of USDPT stablecoin, covering over 60 currencies and more than 200 countries and regions. The service aims to reduce cross-border transfer times from several days to just hours while lowering fees. The global remittance market is valued at approximately $905 billion annually. Receiver Redirect is based on the USDPT stablecoin issued by Western Union, which is issued by Anchorage Digital Bank on the Solana blockchain. Senders can initiate transfers through Western Union's network of over 500,000 agents, and recipients will receive USDPT in their Western Union wallets, with the option to hold the stablecoin indefinitely using the Stablecard set to launch in August 2026. Noah will provide fund management and licensing to ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements. The global head of digital assets at Western Union stated that customers want greater flexibility in receiving, holding, and using their funds. Noah completed a $38 million seed round funding on October 7, 2026, and obtained a license as a crypto asset service provider and payment institution under the EU's MiCA framework on October 15.
