Waller: AI Agents Account for About Half of FRED Traffic, Launches MCP Connector
Federal Reserve Governor Waller stated during his speech at the FRED Con that FRED traffic has grown by approximately 150% annually, with the new traffic primarily coming from AI and robots, and AI agents now account for about half of the traffic. FRED has launched the MCP Connector, allowing users to find and access economic data through selected AI agents. The team is developing skills to help agents correctly use economic data and is advancing connections with historical data and archives. FRED is an economic database maintained by the St. Louis Fed, aggregating economic data such as interest rates, inflation, employment, and GDP.
