Stacks Launches Genesis Bond for Bitcoin Treasuries
Stacks has launched the Genesis Bond, a mechanism that allows Bitcoin (BTC) holders to earn yield without relinquishing custody or withdrawing funds from the main network. The product sets an annualized rate target of 3% distributed over six months. To participate, it is required to lock Bitcoin in the main network with a standard timelock and to stake STX tokens in Stacks worth approximately 5% of the position. 100% of the yields are distributed in Bitcoin, while the STX token secures capacity within the system. The initial phase was structured as a pilot program with limited capacity, with demand exhausting between 230 and 250 Bitcoin. Entities such as 21Shares, Nakamoto, HashKey, and Sypher Capital participated in the pilot, maintaining control of their private keys on Bitcoin's L1. The funds come from the Proof of Transfer (PoX) consensus mechanism, where miners contribute real Bitcoin to validate blocks.
