Solana Launches SBPFv3 Bytecode Format, Becomes the Only Deployable Format
The Solana core development team, Anza, has launched a new bytecode format, SBPFv3, which is now integrable into Solana programs. SBPFv3 completes system call resolution at compile time, adopts a strict ELF layout, and aligns with the upstream eBPF standard, meaning Solana will no longer maintain a separate bytecode variant. According to the SIMD-0500 proposal, SBPFv3 will become the only deployable format in the upcoming Agave v4.4 release. Anza recommends that developers start migrating now, as most Rust programs can be rebuilt with just a few commands.
