Russia Attacks Naftogaz's Kherson Thermal Power Plant, All Equipment Destroyed
On August 27, Russian troops attacked the Kherson Thermal Power Plant of the Naftogaz group, resulting in the complete destruction of all heat-generating and power-generating equipment. The strike was carried out with four guided aerial bombs. Naftogaz reported critical damage and noted that the attack targeted a civilian facility that provides heating to a significant portion of residential buildings in Kherson. Acting Chairman of Naftogaz, Sergey Fedorenko, stated that the aim of the attack is to terrorize the civilian population and to deprive tens of thousands of Kherson residents of their heat source before the heating season. On August 26, Russian troops also attacked the power plant with a guided aerial bomb. Since the beginning of 2026, the station has been subjected to dozens of attacks, including artillery strikes and drone assaults, resulting in significant damage.
