Traffic is completely interrupted on National Route 40, between San Martín de los Andes and Catritre, due to a large landslide that affected the road along the Seven Lakes route. The measure was implemented by National Road Administration after rocks fell onto the roadway amidst adverse weather conditions in Neuquén. Technical teams are working on-site to remove the debris and restore circulation, although it is warned that it is unlikely that traffic will normalize today. The closure is located at kilometer 43, a key point in the circuit, significantly impacting traffic during the winter holidays. There are currently no detours available while alternatives are being evaluated to ensure connectivity. The landslide occurred in the context of rain, snow, and low temperatures, with weather alerts in effect in Neuquén and Río Negro. The Road Administration recommends avoiding unnecessary travel, especially at night, and to drive cautiously on mountain roads. It is advised to check the condition of the roads and verify the use of chains or appropriate tires.
