Nunchuk Launches New Version of Bitcoin Wallet with Security Alerts

Nunchuk launched a new version of its Bitcoin (BTC) wallet for mobile devices on September 1, 2026, incorporating compatibility with hardware wallets and a revamped security alert system. The update includes support for BitBox devices, which connect via Bluetooth on iOS and Android, as well as USB connection available on Android and desktop computers. Support for Krux devices has also been added through QR codes and in isolated mode. Nunchuk highlighted that BitBox is compatible with Miniscript, allowing its use with time-lock based inheritance protocols, both off-chain and on-chain, through the Honey Badger system. Additionally, the alert system was updated following a security incident related to Coldcard, which resulted in the theft of over 2000 BTC. This modification allows warnings about security vulnerabilities to be sent to all wallet users, both free and paid, especially to those who keep funds in cold storage and do not follow Bitcoin news daily. Nunchuk also hinted at a future feature that will allow any hardware signing device to be used as an inheritance key, although no further details about this feature were provided.
