I believe we should always consider consciousness and the unknown darkness as unstable and delicate.

Humans are not sure if there are aliens, so the bottom line is, I think we need to assume that life and consciousness are extremely rare, perhaps only us. If this is the case, then we need to do everything possible to ensure that the light of consciousness does not extinguish, as humanity is a small candle in a vast darkness. It is for this reason that paving the way for life to survive on multiple planets becomes particularly important, so that once a natural or man-made disaster occurs on Earth, consciousness can continue.
