In the second quarter of 2026, the number of closed individual entrepreneurs (IE) in the field of computer programming in Ukraine exceeded the number of new openings by 506. The number of new IT IEs decreased by 8.7% to 8,800, while closures increased by 6.5%. The net growth of entrepreneurs in the sector fell more than twice, from 2,100 to approximately 800 IEs. About 4,000 new IEs were registered in programming, while approximately 4,500 were closed, resulting in a negative balance of 267 entrepreneurs for the first half of the year. Overall, the IT sector remained positive in the second quarter with a net gain of 790 IEs, thanks to other areas compensating for the decline in programming. In the first half of the year, 140,300 new IEs were registered in Ukraine, while 100,100 were closed, yielding a net increase of 40,200 IEs. Analysts attribute the worsening situation in programming to changes in demand in the IT market, where companies are seeking specialists in DefTech, Hardware, and artificial intelligence.
