On August 21, Serenity reported that leveraged traders have shifted from AI stocks to Hyperliquid (the crypto market) and biotech, believing this could accelerate the recovery of AI stocks. The South Korean ETF EWY rose mainly due to stock buybacks by SK Hynix, with Samsung's foundry prices increasing by about 10% to 15%.
Serenity stated that SK Hynix disclosed its CPO roadmap, which involves a photonic intermediary layer connecting memory, potentially expanding the addressable market and driving demand in the supply chain for lasers, photonic integrated circuits, and packaging. After the successful IPO of Changxin Memory Technologies (CXMT), Yangtze Memory Technologies Co. (YMTC) is seeking to go public in the next quarter.
Optoelectronic manufacturer Tyntek hit its upper limit, with order visibility extending to 2028, reflecting an imbalance in supply and demand for optoelectronic diodes in the photonics industry. The shortage of high-end PCB drilling needles continues, driven by demand for PCBs, HDI, and packaging substrates from AI data centers, servers, and optical communications, with tungsten prices also rising.
