Iran and Oman have reached an understanding regarding the shipping route map for vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. The Iranian Foreign Ministry stated that both sides aim to finalize the agreement by linking the route map with a joint statement. The discussion involved vessels entering the Persian Gulf via the Iranian route and exiting through the Omani route, with a proposal to not impose separate fees or tolls during an interim period. However, the United States is reviewing whether the conditions for lifting the blockade on Iranian ports are sufficient. The Strait of Hormuz is a major passage for Middle Eastern crude oil and LNG, with an average of 20.9 million barrels of oil expected to pass through the strait daily in the first half of 2025. Iran effectively closed the strait following attacks from Israel and the United States in February, and this agreement is related to one of the U.S. demands for reopening the strait. In the crypto market, the issues surrounding the Strait of Hormuz have indirectly influenced oil prices and the preference for risk assets, affecting Bitcoin price movements.
