Hong Kong SAR Government Issues HKD 20 Billion Digital Green Bonds
The Hong Kong SAR Government announced today the successful pricing of approximately HKD 20 billion worth of digital green bonds under its sustainable bond program, covering Hong Kong dollars, renminbi, US dollars, and euros. In addition to using traditional settlement methods and the tokenized central bank currency settlement option introduced last time, this issuance also incorporates tokenized deposits through EnsembleTX in the primary issuance settlement process of Hong Kong dollar bonds. This makes it one of the first digital bonds globally to introduce tokenized deposits in Hong Kong dollars, further enhancing the digital ecosystem and laying the foundation for exploring the programmability of digital currencies.
