GE Vernova has announced the launch of its Medium Voltage Uninterruptible Power Supply (MV-UPS) designed for artificial intelligence (AI) data centers. The MV-UPS is engineered to completely isolate power grid fluctuations from critical loads, helping to reduce voltage drops and frequency variations. As power consumption in AI data centers increases, it is designed to prevent sudden power fluctuations from affecting the power grid. GE Vernova stated that the MV-UPS supports grid-connected, bridging, and islanding configurations. This device acts as a buffer between data centers and the power grid, providing voltage, current, reactive power support, and backup power. According to performance data for the second quarter of 2026, GE Vernova's data center orders have exceeded $5 billion this year, which is more than double the total for 2025. The U.S. Department of Energy predicts that power usage by data centers could reach up to 9% of the annual electricity generation in the U.S. by 2030. GE Vernova's MV-UPS is expected to become a key power quality management device for AI infrastructure.
