French Woman Detained for Manipulating Verasity Token Price, Acquires Over €50 Million in Real Estate
A 45-year-old woman, Svetlana A., has been detained by a Paris investigating judge on charges of organized fraud, serious money laundering, and participation in a criminal gang. She and her partner, Robert H., are suspected of committing fraud by manipulating the price of the cryptocurrency Verasity (VRA), with the related funds believed to have been used to purchase real estate in Dubai. Svetlana A. invested over €50 million in 2022, acquiring approximately 100 apartments and three luxury villas, with expected rental income of at least €4 million from 2022 to 2025. She also purchased a building containing 73 apartments for 68 million dirhams (approximately €17.4 million). The price of VRA surged 65 times in the spring of 2021, before plummeting significantly, currently down about 99.98% from its historical peak. Her lawyer claims that the source of her wealth is legitimate and denies any wrongdoing, with the case still under investigation.
