Federal Reserve Enters Quiet Period, Jensen Huang Attends GTC Berlin, Meta and Tesla Earnings in Focus
On October 18, the market reassessed economic resilience after digesting stronger-than-expected inflation data. The Federal Reserve has entered its quiet period ahead of the FOMC meeting on October 28, with officials remaining silent. This week, the market is focused on earnings reports from tech giants and economic data, with Meta and Tesla set to release their earnings, while the semiconductor and storage sectors also enter their earnings disclosure window. On Friday, preliminary PMI data for the US and Europe and the final Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index will be released to assess the interest rate hike path. On the geopolitical front, Trump has suspended comprehensive sanctions and tariff enforcement against Russia, setting a roughly 60-day evaluation window, while disruptions in Hormuz shipping and Middle Eastern risks continue to support oil prices. The schedule for important events is as follows: On Tuesday, the NVIDIA GTC Berlin conference opens (until the 22nd). On Wednesday, US API and EIA crude oil inventories for the week ending October 16; NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang will deliver a keynote speech at GTC Berlin; US stocks enter a super earnings day, with Meta, Tesla, IBM, and Lam Research reporting after hours. On Thursday, initial jobless claims for the week ending October 17 in the US; Nokia, Western Digital, and MaxLinear will report earnings. On Friday, preliminary S&P Global Manufacturing and Services PMI for October in the US and the final Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index, along with Japan's September CPI and preliminary composite/manufacturing/services PMI for October.
