DeepSeek Raises $12 Billion in Funding with Tencent and CATL Participating

AI company DeepSeek is nearing the completion of a new funding round, expected to reach at least 80 billion RMB (approximately $12 billion), significantly exceeding the company's previous funding target of around 50 billion RMB. Tencent Holdings and CATL have committed to investing a substantial amount in this round of financing, with the related transactions expected to be finalized soon. Following the release of DeepSeek's latest AI model, market demand and investment interest have surged, leading to a funding scale that surpasses expectations, with the final amount potentially approaching 100 billion RMB. DeepSeek has previously attracted attention from institutions such as Tencent and CATL, and is using this funding to expand its computing infrastructure, develop AI models, and build its team. DeepSeek plans to conduct an initial public offering (IPO) in early 2027, and this large-scale funding will provide financial support for its pre-IPO development.
