Ampleforth Suspected Malicious Governance Proposal Involves 2.5 Million USDC
The decentralized digital asset protocol Ampleforth's 54th governance proposal is suspected to be malicious, involving 2.5 million USDC from the treasury. The proposal, titled "SPOT Completed Work Grant," aims to transfer funds to the proposer’s address, amounting to nearly the entire 2.538 million USDC held by the time-locked contract. The proposer disclosed that they authored the proposal and will self-vote through a representative holding only 87,238 FORTH (approximately 0.57%), barely exceeding the threshold of 75,000. At a cost of $0.22 per token, the attack cost is only $132,000.
