The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) plans to increase the frequency of its Commitments of Traders (COT) report to twice a week by the end of this year. Currently, the report is released every Friday, showcasing the buying and selling activities in the commodities market, distinguishing between hedge funds and other asset management firms versus commercial trading participants. Producers rely on this report to make hedging decisions, while speculative traders observe market position changes through the data. CFTC Chairman Michael C. Selig stated at an agricultural commodity futures conference in Kansas that this plan stems from demands within the agricultural sector.
