CFTC Chair to Continue Issuing Cryptocurrency Regulatory Rules

Michael Selig, the chair of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, stated that the regulatory agency possesses a significant amount of existing statutory authority. While participating in the presidential working group on digital assets, the agency has examined statutory authorizations and legislative powers, and will continue to issue regulatory rules in the cryptocurrency sector based on existing regulatory authority to prepare for the development of this new financial domain.
